Interviews and Conferences

Hints and Tips

Please consider the following prior to recording your meeting:

Avoid using locations where background noise is intrusive – a coffee shop, communal lobby, hotel foyer, etc.

Minimise external noise as much as possible – close windows, turn off mobile phones, etc.

Position all participants as close to the recorder/microphone as possible.

Place the recorder/microphone on something soft (mousemat or papers) to avoid vibration from the table.

Try not to flick through papers close to the recorder/microphone as this may cause distortion.

Avoid positioning near anything magnetic such as a television, PC or mobile phone.

When starting the recording, clearly state the date, time and subject of the interview.

Introduce yourself and ask all participants to introduce themselves (so the typist can identify the individuals in the room).

Try not talk over each other.

If somebody leaves the room, please note this on the recording.

Please provide a list of participants, along with key words, agenda and slides (if appropriate) to your Account Manager prior to commencing the project/transcription.
